Today was slowly passing by. Ethan spent his afternoon making coffee for cubs and adults alike. Everyone in the cafe enjoyed drinking their peppermint frappuccinos in their winter clothes. A pink vixen his age approached the counter. “Welcome to the Mocha Moose Cafe. What can I get you?”“Ethan!? Ohmigosh! I can't believe it!”“A-Alexandra!?”
It was Alexandra Castillo, his ex-girlfriend from college. “My ‘ma told me you moved back into town and I didn’t believe her!”“Haha, yeah. How’s Gladys?”“Oh, y’know. She still hates you. Something about you ‘not being man enough’ for me.”“...Glad to hear it.” (“Cranky old bitch.”) “Wanna catch up? I hear you’ve been watching kids again.”“Yeah, sure thing. I’m taking my 15, Joseph.” He clocked out and hung up his apron.
The two sat at a table and talked about life since he left college. “Sooo, are you seeing anyone?” His thoughts turned to Elan. He was the closest thing he’d had to a partner since he broke up with Alexandra. “N-not really.” He turned on his phone and absentmindedly browsed his pictures. Selfies with Elan from their trip to the boardwalk. “Wow, you’ve got a lotta pics with that kid. Who is he?”
Ethan turned his phone over and glared at her. “None of your business.” Alexandra quickly put two and two together. “N-no way… You, and him!?”“You’ve got the wrong idea!”“I can’t believe you! What’s wrong with you!?” Ethan began to panic. So this is how it all ends… “How could you turn down a 10 like me for a boy that’s 10?” She fake sobbed. Alexandra was just being her usual melodramatic self. “He’s not 10. He’s 11…”
He covered his mouth and spoke in a hushed voice, “You’re not going to tell anyone?”“What? Nah. It still blows my mind, though. How could you choose a kid over someone like moi?”“For one thing, I broke up with you because you were using me for my notes. And another thing, I didn’t choose him. He, uh, chose me.”“I’m offended! We did other things besides study together!” Alexandra pouted and crossed her arms. “Such as…?”“Um, shop together. Partying! Traveling!”“And we used my money for all of those things. How convenient.”
The shop’s bell chimed. “Ethan!” Elan ran to Ethan and hugged him. “Ah, speak of the devil. Hello there, cutie!” He became quiet at the sight of Alexandra. “It’s okay, Elan. She’s an old friend.”“Friend? We dated, dude.”“...Hello. Um, Ethan? Can we do ‘that thing’ again?”“Wow, Ethan. You weren’t kidding. Now I see who wears the pants in your relationship~.”“Pants?”“Um, wow. My break’s over. Nice seeing you two! Goodbye!”
Alexandra and Elan were now alone at the table. Ethan’s past girlfriend and current “boyfriend”. “So... what’s that 'thing’ you wanted to do with him, hm?”“...I can’t tell you.”“Ooh, a secret. Gotcha.” She leaned in close and whispered into his ear, “FYI, he loves it when you rub his balls while you suck him.” Alexandra winked at him. She grabbed her purse and walked away. “See ya, Ethan and Elan!”
Elan's face was beet-red. He was surprised that Alexandra knew his little secret. Ethan snapped him out of it. "Want anything to drink, little man?""S-sure." ("Does he really like that? ...I need to try that out on him.")
