Sunshine groans softly, face buried into a pillow to muffle any noises he'd been making so they wouldn't wake up the kids "Anything yet...?"
"Not really, I managed to get in touch with mom and she said that she would find Starlight to tell him what's going on right away. Hopefully she's able to let him know soon so he can get his butt back here already" Manic sighs as he enters the bedroom "How are ya doin?" He asks the pregnant hedgehog.
"Honestly? N-Not great...I'm nervous and everything hurts..." Sunshine admits "I wish Starlight was here, I know that he has duties that he's obligated to complete as acting prince but I just wish that someone else could do it for him...he'd be devastated if he missed either of the twins arriving..." He sighs, tensing up in pain and tightly gripping his pillow "D-Doesn't feel like it'll be long now..."
~An Hour Later~
A strained cry rings out through the hedgehog family's home, calling out a certain blue speedster's name as Sunshine fights against his body's instincts to bare down and expel the first of the soon to be born twins.
"Wh-Where is he?! I need Starlight! Where...where is my husband...?!" The black and red hedgehog cries out from where he lay in the bed that he and his husband shared, frightened and already exhausted.
"I...I can't d-do this...without...ah...without him here...I-I need...S-SONIC!" Sunshine sobs, unable to fight against the urgency of his body's need to begin delivering the first twin. Sonia and Manic both rushed to their brother-in-law's aid, staying by his side to help him and to try and comfort him in any way they could while he called out for his partner.
Sunshine flops back against the pillows behind him, gasping to catch his breath after pushing through a particularly rough contraction. The first baby was close, he could feel it. The thought of having to deliver without Starlight by his side terrified him, he whimpers softly and rests a hand on his sore stomach "D-Don't...don't worry...Daddy will be home soon...please just wait a little longer for me..."
Manic groans with frustration when he fails yet again to contact his blue brother, hanging up only to immediately call him again "C'mon, c'mon...pick up...answer your damn phone, Star..." He mutters under his breath, listening to the phone ringing over and over until he hears a click and a tired voice finally replies.
"H'lo...? Who is this?"
"Finally! Where the hell have you been?! We've been trying to call you for hours! Get your blue butt back here ASAP or else the twins will get here before you do!" The green hedgehog scolds his sibling.
"Is...is that, Star...?" Sunshine asks tiredly, looking up at the sound of the other hedgehog talking on the phone "Tell him that...he n-needs to come home...mmgh...I need him here...I'm s-scared..."
