Artwork (with permission of the artist HiroSenpai) of Dragon Ball (Anime & Cartoon No. 28): The Beginning of a Journey & a Friendship (2021-11-29/30).
The old Dragon Ball Anime und Manga became one of my favorites really fast after I learned about it at the age of 13 years. Introduced to Anime through Sailor Moon a few month earlier, the story around Son-Goku and his friends searching Dragon Balls and doing martial arts training and tournaments hooked me really fast (and was sometimes more of a favorite than Sailor Moon, but they switched places etc.).
Also, - although I read and still have all 42 manga volumes, I have to admit that I don't like Dragon Ball Z very much - especially after the Namek story; only Piccolo is great XD. For me Z's „perpetuation of the story led to its simplification and reduction to a never-ending battle that fails to incorporate the folkloric and literary richness that is inherent in the first series” (Mínguez-López, 2014: 31f.).
From the beginning I liked Son-Goku and his friends he made - especially Muten Roshi and Bulma. my twin brother didn't like Bulma, I liked her more as „a young genius“ (Mínguez-López, 2014: 32) and „a sexy teenager“ (in: West, 2009: 203) - and as a friend and kind of big sis to Goku :)
Especially this beginning relationship was captured in a breathtaking atmosphere by HiroSenpai in the original artwork of which I got permission of recoloring more than 2 years ago. But I never felt ready for being able to do justice to the great drawn artwork but yesterday/today - after the last artworks worked really well and me having a feeling of improvement - I suddenly wanted to give recoloring a try.
