Oh man I wish I knew what this felt like for myself!

Panthress has a very long history, and one small piece of that history is her first world, where she was born and made what she is today.

On that world were dragons of a sort, created by Mother Earth to find and kill another creation of hers, the vampire. Because they were made to deal with the undead, the dragons were given fangs full of venom that allowed them to heal nearly any wound, even death itself to a point (and thus bring vampires back to life so they could be properly killed). They were also given poison in hidden spines along their tails that allow them to open the mind of a human to theirs, bonding with them in telepathic communication. That venom is agonizing to the point of sometimes being deadly by itself, but the healing venom directly translates pain to pleasure...

People who bond with the dragons don't have a problem with being killed by the process. They have a problem wanting to just die right there so they don't have to experience life without that intense ecstasy any more. As a result, dragons are very picky about who they bond with. They are very caring creatures, and hate to be responsible for any accidental deaths.
