'There are many types of gear worn across the galaxy, but the most ubiquitous ones are based on kysalian scouting armor. After the withdrawal of the kysalians from its original spread, that setup was apropriated and adapted by various factions and societies. Now it can be seen everywhere from low-ranking soldiers to independent private contractors.
UNDERWEAR : The most mundane part of a uniform, it consists of simple garments meant to be worn regularly. Usually self-adjusting, cheap, and comfortable enough to wear casually.
SKINSUIT : A "second-skin" made of skintight treated synthetic fiber. It protects the body from contaminants while tremendously stabilizing body heat and moisture levels, allowing users to survive in otherwise inhospitable environments. It's surprisingly hard to puncture, but also easy to rip apart.
BODY SEAL : Lotions, waxes, resins, etc. A variety of known substances that can be used on the extremities - fingers, feet, etc - in order to protect them and seal gaps in the skinsuit, while still maintaning flexibility.
PERSONAL FIELD : A semi-permeable forcefield created by the user's armor. Very energy efficient, it creates a pocket of clean air thermally isolated from the outside, protecting the user's head in the environment just as their skinsuit does. Large objects can easily penetrate the forceshield though, so it doesn't serve as impact protection - additional measures are required in more extreme environments or in dangerous scenarios.
ARMOR : The topmost protective layer - good at absorbning blunt force. It also serves as a shell where most secondary systems are integrated - air recycling systems, GPS, scanners, communicators, batteries, etc. The modular nature of these sytems allows a wide variety of setups to suit the user's needs.
BOOTS : Similar to heavy trail boots, they're designed for use by a variety of anatomies with relative ease. A flexible midsection made of intelligent gel allows it to be worn by both plantigrades and digitigrades.
