The Aspects are the parts that make up Mpanjaka.
So personality-wise, Rivotra is the most like Julien - sassy and energetic. Rano is the opposite, much more laid-back (although he cries easily). Afo is like Julien with pms. He's perpetually cranky and doesn't need much to go off. Tany is the most mature and level-headed one, with her second attribute being wisdom.
