Something I did a bit to vent about latest issues with Riot's decision making. The more they keep trying to "work their lore" the worse it gets. I've lost friends off the game due to how bad it is, youtubers have left the game due to how unfun the game is and Riot insists on thinking they are making it better, when mostly they just turn themselves into jokes and memes.

And Arcane was a mistake for sure, at least with how yordles are portraited there.

I don't expect anyone to agree with me, but would be nice to feel like I'm not the only sensible being in this planet who hates how a species went from ok to bad. Trolling and flame will be ignored entirely.

I've looked up the Yordle lore on the wiki hoping that it might have been updated with the Arcane depiction, but haven't seen much about the depiction these yordles are proteting about, would you mind explaning what you mean there?

That's because Riot's writing has been nonsense ever since they removed the summoners from the lore.

Back in the day, yordles were supposed to be perfect peaceful creatures who wanted nothing but to live in peace, but because they were small and fragile, they were victims of literally anything, from Noxians who could conquer their city, to void that could destroy them, to Bilgewater that could pillage them, etc.

What made yordle lore interesting is that they raised up arms to defend themselves, but not with strength they lacked, but with wits and smarts. They also forged alliances to help them increase their survival odds, even having yordles as "agents" to cover ground.

Like Poppy being the ambassador that tied the yordles to Demacia, Ziggs and Heimer inventing in Piltover, where yordle tech could benefit the cities (Much to Rumble's annoyance), Kennen was in Ionia so prove their nature in the grand scheme of balance, etc.

And yordles like Kled and Veigar were evidence of how horrible humans and creatures could be if someone were to corrupt yordles to their dark side by torturing them or putting them through hell, plus further proving that yordles needed to protect themselves.

The whole lore was a meaning that no matter how small or insignificant you feel in the world, you could still rise up and do wonders if you had the heart, determination and care for those who can help you and help you back. It was a great moral to teach players, both in life, by saying that people shouldn't feel sad because they can't accomplish much, but able to accomplish many things later... But also teaches players ingame that they shouldn't be surrendering a game or giving up because you're having it worst, because your team could still need your help.

And now fast forward to now, yordles are none of that. They're just boring immortal creatures that can do whatever in the world without consequences and thanks to Arcane, it became worse by saying that yordles are attracted to human flaws, which goes against the point of being a different species, which is usually to have a more noble or different behavior than "human superiority".

So they ruined the chance of an interesting take on yordles because they wanted humans to feel like they're the most important characters and yordles are just in the gutter. At this point, Riot could remove yordles and replace them with humans and nothing would change in the lore.

I'm pissed because I cared about these yordles more than anyone else and I have to sit here and watch them burn.
