We get to meet Gwendolyn's peers. She's centuries older than all of them, but she still respects the hierarchy. Yelis the Coyote leads the Pacific Northwest Council of Wizards and Witches. He is also mayor of the nearest town. His double life allows the council to exist safely where it is. Not all magicals are recluses like Gwendolyn, several of them live double lives and participate in Cascadian society.

I'm totally blown away by how good your expressions and body language has gotten!
Those last two pages...I like her and still do but I TOTALLY wanna smack her for that outburst! :)

Also that group shot...bet there are a LOT of secrets and skeletons to be found....just like the one Gwyn has safely stashed away in that trunk back at her place that Chucky found! :D

Coos Bay is just south of the Oregon Coast's midpoint, so it's actually in the southern part of what they call Cascadia.

Gabby is so cute! Gwendolyns magical peers are so interesting, so friendly! It seems like such a fun group; I would love to hang out with them, have my fortune read by a catgirl (?), talk business and politics, maybe take a magical sample home and brew up a rejuvenation potion for myself. Yelis and his little counsel of “magicals” seem so united, so wholesome.

But there’s more going on here. Gwendolyn is not a true peer to these people, she’s something far older and more dangerous. She’s a Wicked Witch of the ‘Grimm’ sort, even if she’s trying to reform these last few centuries. She understands that the larger and lately so much more alert world will not suffer her kind to live and thus dedicates herself to keeping a VERY low profile. And to keeping alive, she’s pretty dedicated to that as well… Yet now here she is at Witch Club, palling around with a bunch of flashy children (even the elderly ones), and offering to share her deepest personal and professional secrets with them. She hasn’t even MET Gabby yet! What’s her overall goal in being a member, but explicitly not leader, of this coven? What has she done to those intimately warm samples of Chuckies essence, and what will befall those who try to use them?! Has this ambitious Gabby read her own fortune and developed a plan to extend it?

Your story has always had this dark shadow following behind it’s cute and sexy self. Even before I read past Panel 9 I thought there might be something hiding behind those too-wide eyes. I’m noticing how many of these magical folks wear collars and wondering if they ever take them off, or even can… That’s what makes your story interesting. That and the art.

Gwendolyn is definitely a world apart from these folks, but they're the closest thing to peers that she's gonna get. She does want friends and social contact, she just also likes her long alone periods in her home in the woods. She's not interested in being a leader, she never has been. Even after all the centuries she's lived, she's still socially awkward and likes her low profile. Chucky's essence is still pure, with only a stasis spell on it so it can last a very long time. Many different potions can be made with it.

I'll try to make this as interesting as I can. You'll learn more about these folks as the pages unfold. Their collars and necklaces are cosmetic, the exception being Prickella. Her's is a copper ring with a specific function which I'll hopefully get around to explaining.
