The characters are mixed between this set and the GeneX Anniversary set, because initially I thought I would only do the GeneX set. So, yeah, there will be OCs in this set, just as Sonic, Tails, etc. were in the GeneX set. Go on and check out that set if you wanna see 'em.
We're counting down to the release of GeneX's final chapter with this, too. So, check back over the next 2 weeks as more & more pics get added to this set!
We start with Eggman, it's his 30th Anniversary too. Unlike most of the characters, I couldn't use a base for him, I had to start over from scratch. Basically, he was one of the toughest characters to do... so lay off me for forgetting his ears!!
After Eggman, I guess let's feature Lospecter, the other villain that's haunted GeneX for the entire run of the series. I put him on a Null Space background. Don't get used to new backgrounds. Anyway, Lospecter's a smug spook who enjoys giving the heroes the runaround...but though he seemed the leader of the Lost Ones, that wasn't the case...
It's a dark day on Green Hill as Apocalos enacts his final plot to end all life in the multiverse. This slimy villain is the origin of all Lost Ones, and was once hero Rex the Hedgehog. He's also travelled through time disguised as the Doomsayer, plotting the world's end all through the series. And I made a chibi of him...what the hell, me?? (Well, this is the only way we were getting a full-body image of him)
Now, someone you've heard of. Amy Rose! We gotta have Amy Rose. She hung around the Chemical Plant in Generations, so I put her on that background. Don't she look cute, though?
Cream and Cheese are next. These two were quite the pain to make, they're deceptively detailed characters. Well, Cheese was just another I had to do from scratch. I'm using bases for a reason, I don't like drawing, honestly. But I like Cream, and we can't have her without Cheese. Well, we can, but we shouldn't.
Now some lazy ones. I made this Dark Punchy (or "Punky") alt while making Punchy back in August...September? Agh, I don't remember. Punky was first created just to prove to myself that I wasn't just lazy in making Punchy's design, that I could make a better echidna design if I wanted to. And he just stuck around as a weird Mr. Hyde to Punchy's Jekyll.
If we're gonna have Dark Punchy, might as well have Dark Copter. This way I can have a fox in this set! Dark Copter took the name Aries during Doomsday, which Copter himself used during the Zodiac arc. None of them are Dimentime, who was Copter from the Sonic 06 timeline wearing a black hood. Gosh Copter has a lotta names...
One last lazy one. Libra is literally a recolor of Gemini, her twin sister. Libra is the shadier sister, having considered a career with the Covenant of Despair before being forced to join the Zodiac council in the guise of the Deathbringer. All she's ever wanted was to reunite with Gemini, though.
One more obvious inclusion, it's Rouge the bat! I don't think this art style really suits her, but I gave it a shot. She's more GUN than thief in the GeneX series...kinda wish I gave her more thieving to do, in retrospect...
Next is Guard the gargoyle, or "Garen," as Heather named him late in the series. Guard had been Richard Gunner's faithful stooge for many years, but he finally became fed up with his mobian-hating master, and now the growling gargoyle has broken free of his android brain's programming.
There was an extra slot or two for making these chibis, and I ended up picking Jet for one of the characters. Chaos, but he is tough to draw. Feathers and tattoos and that weird black shape on his shoes... But Foxhound would never let me hear the end of it if I skipped Jet ^^;
I took this as an opportunity to draw some characters that hadn't been seen drawn before. So, here we have Experiment 19, Emily the Squirrel, in the clothes she wore when she first knew Conan before she died and was resurrected as an Experiment. Yeah, being an experiment lets her cut the line ahead of Conan for a pic. The raccoon does have a sprite though, maybe it's on an old preview image somewhere...
Experiment 20 is known as "Gideon the GeneX." It should be glowing so bright that you scarcely see the X shape on its chest, but I can't do that effect. Gideon is life energy incarnate, and technically has no true form, but I treat this hedgehog shape as its default, although it doesn't work like that. Gideon cannot control its forms totally, its shape changes based on the life force in the surrounding area.
If I have a Null Space background, well, better attempt Infinite. I shouldn't have attempted his mask, though, I should have just drew his actual face. This guy's tough to draw. Anyway, I wanted more villain representation in the chibis, so he seemed a good pick. You'll never catch me drawing a Zeti, anyway. And I'd take the lazy way out with Mephiles, just recoloring Shadow...
Nobody could conclude this but Super Sonic! For his backdrop, I mashed a bunch of the other backgrounds together to get the Time Collision "stage" from GeneX Generations (and Doomsday). Aaaand now...it's time for the final chapter of Doomsday... I'll try not to get emotional ^^;
(I speedran uploading the last posts here because I had somewhere I needed to be the day of the upload. Not that this means a dang thing to you, just thought I'd explain for anyone suddenly finding this updated in the moment)
