They plan to stay at the carnival for a few hours longer. Penelope knows how to put on her own clothes, but may sometimes need assistance. The carnival does not have any traditional rest areas, and instead they have porta-potties. Penelope has a dislike for using porta-potties. They were dirty, they smelled bad, and the last time Penelope used one, she got a rash. Therefore, Penelope is bringing a diaper to the carnival. The potty Penelope had at home was too big to fit in the car, and her mother is still investing in a mini travel potty to bring while traveling, but her mother still had one of the old diapers that Penelope wore while she was potty training. She chosen the diapers over the nighttime pull-ups since the diaper had more absorbency. The safety pin on the diaper is loosely fastened so Penelope can easily put the diaper on. If Penelope needs to go to the bathroom, she could use the diaper, get changed at the car, and continue playing on the rides. (And don't worry, Penelope's mother won't put a wet sticker on Penelope's potty chart. Mother is not a fan of using porta-potties, either.)
