Artwork (with permission of the artist Mauricio Abril): 5. TMNT: "...Vater sein dagegen sehr" (2021-10-28).
A few days ago I received the permission of the stunning artist Maurici Abril to recolor his lovely TMNT artwork with the title 'Daddy...'. This is one of the best TMNT artworks out there and makes me laughing/smiling every time I look at it.
Then I remembered myself a German proverb which was (also?) written down by the German humorist poet & painter Wilhelm Busch at the beginning of his illustration 'Julchen' (here after Hochhut's edition Volume II, p. 270): "Vater werden ist nicht schwer, Vater sein dagegen sehr." (English - my translation: 'Becoming a father is easy, being a father instead is hard').
Sure, Splinter is not involved in the biological reproduction of the Turtles, nor is he really responsible for the mutation of them; he only bought Turtles and they become mutants in/because of a Krang confrontation. So, you could definitily be sceptical about the first part but the second part of the proverb fits this picture so well and that's the reason I chose it as a title here :)
The recoloring was fun but really difficult - Mau built in so many great details and I just tried my best.
