I used to buy similar kind of sour bubblegum when I was in elementary school. Super sour at first, but the taste didn't last for very long.

All the girls in Junior High ate these blue super-sour gumballs. Yuck! Makes me pucker up even to this day! O_o

I really liked those sour bubblegums. We used to shove a bunch in our mouth when we were in elementary school, but the taste did not stay any longer haha. I remember them being covered with fine powder and I would guess that all of the taste was there.
