I have been thinking about that... Other Fens must know of the cave and must have left the country at one point.. There was a drought going on for years surely some left that could not make it work for them and maybe were captured.
Speaking of the drought, if this underground river existed, I wonder why they did not use it to get water up to the plants for the fields?
