Growing up and living in the Los Angeles area for 56 years, you're awash with all sort of "Authentic" restaurants.

One was a true fish and chips place.
The fish was breaded and deep fried, the chip were deep fried potato wedges.
And, of course, the bottle of some vinegar based sauce to sprinkle on the fish.

Quite tasty actually.

I moved to Texas 12 years ago, to the middle of nowhere.

Laughs, good thing I like beans and cornbread.

Sigh, even KFC, the closest is 65 miles from here. (Along with Home Depot.)
At least we have Taco Bell and MacDonald's.
And a couple of really good Mexican restaurants.

How about these then?  These are all British words for parts of a car:  bonnet, boot, windscreen, cubby box, gearbox, track, and nave plate.  I read a book called, "Crazy English".  In it, there's a chapter about English English and American English.  The writer had some wonderful American/British phrases to show how different the two similar languages really are.  Each of these sentences has entirely different meanings in each country.  "I'm just mad about my flat." and "I'll be by tomorrow to knock you up."
