On Christmas morning, I woke up hours before the sun rises, just like every Christmas before. Even as a grown-up, it was still my favorite day of the year. I headed downstairs to the Christmas tree, expecting the same presents I had placed myself for my friends and family to give to them later that day; after all, as an adult I had grown out of believing in a physical Santa Claus, just the Christmas spirit he represented. However, what I found under the tree that year shocked me: amongst all the presents I had placed was a familiar dalmatian puppy, softly snoring and smiling in his sleep as he held a comically-huge candy cane in his arms. Somehow, a real, living Marshall from the children's cartoon "Paw Patrol" was under my Christmas tree. I had watched the show out of curiosity one day and became quickly attached to the silly dalmatian, something people online would commonly refer to as a "comfort character". Though this difficult year, Marshall's goofy grin often help keep me going. At first I was sure I was dreaming, but this was undeniably real. Not wanting to wake the adorable pup from his deep sleep, I noticed an ornate Christmas card next to him with fancy golden penmanship.

"-Dear _______
Merry Christmas! You've been a very good boy this year, so I thought you've deserved a good boy of your own. I know this year has been tough for you, but you kept on going with your head held high and never lost your sense of Christmas spirit. Before you ask, no, I won't explain the details of how you see the very real cartoon pup in front of you. Where would the wonder and magic of Christmas be in that? Ho ho! Just keep doing your best and keep the spirit of Christmas alive in your heart.
Best wishes,
            Santa Claus"

As I finished reading the letter, Marshall's eyes slowly opened as he gave out a yawn, looking up at me with a smile.
"Merry Christmas"
I knew everything was going to be okay.

Marshall is very nice. I also quickly became attached to him, despite the fact that he is stupid, because of his clumsiness, he may well be serious in business. I feel so sorry for him sometimes.
