Well this is embarrassing... I don't remember doing this but it does explain why dad did all his shopping before coming home and I was never with him. -- Sierra
I have received feed back from a number of people who like that I do Slice of Life pictures. Which is good to hear as I like doing them and was starting to get discouraged from doing more art. Also once the pile gets as large as I have you start having to think hard for something new. That and before I can do a new one I need to go through what I have to see what I have forgotten what I have done already.
In this one, I wanted one of those moments that has happened to every parent at some point, a tantrum. It may not be the cereal isle but for me this came across as something that would bring a smile to someones face while also being funny for an otherwise embarrassing moment. Also it is a bit unique I would think in that I haven't come across any "fits" being thrown here on IB for SoL stuff.
I'm always happy to see slice of life images like this. It makes a character so much more interesting if you can see them living their lives and showing off many different facets of their personalities outside of the bedroom. I really like that you were willing to go with something a little less than sweet and happy with this image, too, even though it's still a lovely picture by all means. I love the cereal selection, and as I said on Lumekat's post, the stomping foot and the twitching tail really capture both the tatrum-throwing kid and the angry cat in her. And I can't exactly blame her for punting the bran cereal, either. Who wants boring old adult cereal when you can have Happy Goat? I mean, how can you not love that mascot?
It's always nice to see more of Sierra, even in less than happy moments like this, and I'm glad you persevere with coming up with new ideas, however much harder that has become as of late. And I'm definitely looking forward to seeing whatever you might do with her next.

I love this. The cereal names are an absolute hoot, and it's kind of nice to see kids acting like kids now and then. Even if that doesn't always mean they're sweet little angels. I admire your willingness to show Sierra as a real kid, warts and all to borrow Cromwell's phrase, and I think it makes her a more genuine and likeable girl.

I don't remember ever doing that when I didn't get the kind of cereal I wanted. But, back then, my father wouldn't have hesitated to warm my britches if I pitched a fit like that in the store.

"Quiet, or I'll make you eat that chocolate cereal! And you know what that does to cats!" The box art for Happy Goat reminds me of the Phideaux album Doomsday Afternoon. (This Phideaux guy is not an optimistic kind of person, see.)
