allies turned traitors, the ambitious against their own, a life
where dog-eat-dog seems like playtime at the park, and to
an outsider, hell on Earth sounds like Elysium.
It would be some time before the hardened leader of the
Dark Legion would come to understand such a perspective,
one not of self-interest or purpose, but merely one life looking
upon another and wondering...
Is this the life you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy? If so,
what kind of past must one live to endure it, and if not, who
could think of an existent any worse...?
Your allies opportunistic, your blood treasonous, a blade at your
back with every turn you make, an eye on your every step,
the slightest fault a chance to strike, be it from those who serve
or the enemy...
At times, it can take a nobody to offer what one needs most in
life, because when you stand on the lowest step gazing up at
those above, you realize...
The lower you are, the less you have, so the fewer people
there are to fight, while at the top, everyday is war, against
others, and all too often, your own, vying for your wealth
and status...
And there are some like the very one by Lien's side now
who quickly realize the fight isn't worth the reward, and
will gladly stay at the bottom while lending aid to those
most deserving.
A certain song once said, when all you've got is nothing,
there's a lot to go around, and Lien unknowingly obtained
a recruit who may not have what she considers valuable,
but is willing to offer what all need at some point...
