So, those of you who know me intimately know that I've been struggling in a rut.
Crippling depression can be a bitch.. But thankfully I've taken a turn for the better, and have begun work on the game that I've promised.
The game is going to be called Estalgia: The Forgotten Realms. (es*stal*e*yah)
It's a story about a boy who, upon losing his memory, winds up in a magical realm beyond the city he lives in full of anthropomorphic creatures that show him there's more to this world than what it seems.
I don't want to give away too much of the games story, so I'll talk about the engine that I'm using.
Ren'py has got to be the most user intuitive and user friendly engine that I've ever had the pleasure of using. It requires such light coding that anyone can pick it up and start making their own visual novels. So, the longest part of development is going to be banging out thousands of lines of dialog. Drawing the characters will take only a day or two.
At the moment, I'm focusing on only one character arc, but there will be more characters eventually. And when the game is along to the point where I'm comfortable, I will release a playable demo.
The character in the engine behind the coding script is a temporary palate that I threw together to test image setting in the engine. She doesn't represent the actual character I'll be using for Ibby.
