A noble attempt to protect gone wrong! One look into Melyssa the lamia's hypnotic magic will have you falling under her control. It's very foolish to look into her eyes. But then again, we all do foolish things sometimes for love, right?
Worse though it seems Spirit's noble sacrifice didn't get them very far. They'll both be very comfortable soon. Their chances don't look good, but let's hold out hope that Melyssa's not looking to have some ponies on her lunch menu, but instead just needs some... volunteers to help her with a few things. --- Spirit and Derpy have never met melyssa in my art yet and I felt that should be rectified haha. Not that I really thought too much about this piece or the story surrounding it, it was just a posting idea that popped into my head I felt like drawing. I dunno Drawing this stuff relaxes me. But it was good to see these guys finally meeting. Even Fluttershy got her turn the first time someone commissioned me to draw this snake. (Though, I could always do more in the future).
I meant that it would have been funny if, when Derpy and the snake looked into one another's eyes, instead of Derpy's eyes getting the hypnotized concentric circles the snake's eyes would have drifted off in different directions like Derpy's eyes do. "Derp-nosis," if you will. Or maybe they both have the green hypnosis eyes but derped, and in the last panel all three of them are in a stupor.
