Innocentata Medicalos: The cure
Jenny was started to not be able to eat at all. All she's been eating was liquid diet. School was over for her. She couldn?t even get up in the morning to even go. Sleeping was like sleeping on stones. It was hard and the delta inducer wasn?t helping much.
A night her doctor actually called and requested that they come to his office the next day.
Daddy was pushed into the doctor's office while Jenny and the doc were together ready to talk. "I found the cure."
"You have." Then Jenny noticed the look on his face. "What's wrong with the cure?"
"It needs rejuvenation."
"Theres no way around that."
"No way whatsoever."
"Is it a guaranteed cure?"
"No."
"I don?t want it."
"Jenny."
"You know what happened to mom and dad better than I do. I am not going to end my life a 5-year-old of thirst or a 2-year-old off to much rejuvenation. Thats finale."
"Jenny there's no guarantee that's what's going to happen. And there's no guarantee it's not. I think we should at least tell your father. I mean Mr. Chain ok."
"I agree. There worried about me enough." The nurse brought in daddy.
"Well, what is it?"
"Who should start first?" The doctor said.
"I'll go. Daddy I have a genetic disease called Volktorn. And Dr. Fred Marcus over here might have found the cure."
"What's wrong with that?" Just noticing the looks on their faces.
"It takes rejuvenation to do it."
"So."
"So, I don't want it."
"You can't make that discussion I'm your daddy."
"I made that decision as an adult."
"So, your decisions were decided that wasn't right when you did the crime."
"Want to take this one Doc?"
"She's not guilty. She was in the cabin with me the day and time of the crime. And it's not even possible she did it."
"How's that?"
"She was on IV liquids to keep her alive at the time. I was in the living room watching a game. And there's no way she could have gotten out of there without making a noise and even if she did, she would have fallen before she even got to the bank."
"You can verify that medically."
"Definitely."
"I still don't understand why you don't want to be cured."
"When my parents died it was through the rejuvenator. Too much rejuvation. They programmed the machine to stop rejuvenating the minute the disease was gone. What they didn't know is they had to lose who they are what they stood for everything that made them, them to be cured. So Me Kate and John decided never to use the rejuvator no matter what."
"Kate."
"Kate my real sister. Biological sister. She died of thrist begging for water."
"And John."
"He gave up fighting all together and died of a high fever in the first stages of the disease."
"Your brother."
"Yes."
"Oh My." That's all that was said till they started walking from the hoovercar home.
"Why not just rejuve? There's a possible cure."
"And die a five-year-old of thirst."
"How's that?"
"Think about it. It takes 1 year till the disease starts showing up. Then another year before there's nothing left its either die or rejuve. The rejuvator takes three years of a life at a time. Do the math its either a five-year-old of thirst. Or a 2-year-old of too much rejuvenation."
They walked in the door still arguing "It shouldn't matter."
"What happened Ben?" Mom asked.
"Want to tell your mother?" You could tell that was sarcastic.
"I'm dying."
"NO." Kate went fast upstairs with carefulness not wanting to be spanked then but did it as fast as she could.
That left Jenny and Mommy and daddy. "I'll go talk to her." Daddy said.
"No daddy I'll go. It will be easier from me."
