The image was sketched freehand roughly based on a scene from the opening of the first episode of Baby Looney Tunes. In it Sylvester is running around on all fours chasing a ball of yarn. He's just so cute that way. *squee* They also had diapers at first so he's padded. This was sketched on lightly sanded OZ Kut with an HB pencil then the lines and shades were darkened with a black Stabilo All pencil.
I chose Sylvester because he has both outlines and white lines across black. At first I did a black nose but on the final version I cut out his nose into outlines so the lower part can be filled in with red. This may need a little bit of refinement but I think it came out really good. This isn't my first time carving stamps but my first try doing a cute little toon.
I'm not sure what I'll do with this but I was thinking of printing some hand colored ACEOs off it with a VersaFine pad and markers. That way the detail should show better than this test print with a dye based pad. Let me know if you'd be interested in trading for one.
I'm feeling like doing either adult Pepé or baby Pepé based on that sketch by Bob Guthrie. Maybe adult Sylvester or some other grown up Looney Tunes. I'm going to be doing ponies too. I've already experimented with multi-color cutie mark stampers. I want to do some local designs for letterboxes as well.
