It always feels like when I'm away from home I have all these ideas, but when I get home and look at my screen I'm like "Nah, I just want to stare catatonic at the screen while I half watch a let's play and masturbate for three hours straight."

I also have good ideas, but sit down and have trouble starting them-
Changing my computer area's organization actually helped for what it's worth; make your work area 2/3rds different and you may see it differently too~

But for the purposes of drawing, I would say to keep practicing, and make more friends who are better at drawing them me so I could steal their styles/techniques-

I think you are forgetting to factor in the possibility that just about any artist is only going to share a fraction of what they are actually drawing. Congrats on beating wow, btw.

I actually post 95%~ of what I draw to IB, I really don't draw too much extra stuff.
But I see what you mean, yeah, the stuff I don't post is usually really bad, even though others may actually like it-

My biggest advice is to not accept what you don't like in life; it'll never go away by itself so do something about it-

But you can be a "pro-sumer" and do things like photography or video editing as a professional, but you're just a hobbist...
All I'm saying is people like BunBits need to keep making art, FOR FREE, while giving me what I want like previews of the content they try to monotize with paywalls and discounts on commissions so I can get my jollies and give nothing back!
After all, I was born wasn't I, I'm entitiled to it!
...I don't know where I'm going with this, but thanks for doing your own stuff, you've gotten pretty good in the few years on IB-

I have a problem with doing my "renders" that I'll get distracted by the sexy I'm working on, finish, then fail to finish "rendering".

Most of the stuff on my own gallery is stuff I made because I enjoyed it, and decided to share, not out of any particular desire for recognition.

Maybe it's different when you draw things by hand, as opposed to 3D animation, where one can give it a semblance of spontaneity, that you can't really achieve while drawing.

The most fulfilling things in life are made by completing what you want or need when no one or thing can fulfill that void. No infinite drug or booze cheat can fill that void. Though I always wanted to bed and bred a youthful girl as my father did but times change as they do and one simply can't do such things no matter how many loopholes exist. I have to accept that world has ended.

A stick figure on a napkin will get faves/comments same as a brilliant, Disney/Miyazaki -level drawing.

I could redesign Gene ...it's not hard---I know how to draw. For example, I could make a hard-and-fast 'Disney' model sheet for Gene: head is X-number of 'eyes' wide/tall; bridge of nose falls exactly here at X-level with top cheek ruff (of which there are always three), etc., and so forth.

The question is why would I do this? Who would I be trying to impress?

Don't sit with the... eh, "rabble"? Get up and make a name for yourself; it doesn't mean you work to the bone, but I like (generally) what I draw, artistic wise. It's my own style, and other people enjoy it too so I'll keep going just to be able to say, "I'm above those artists who draw on a napkin"-

the real good art was the friends you made along the way :T

man, i wanna get good sooooo bad...for like a few hours at a time x3
but its also kinda neat that the time you give to your art is another way that you express yourself through it

you could draw all day every day, and that might be valid
but drawing sometimes when you feel like it is also a way to be an artist. cuz no one else can draw what you wanna draw when you wanna draw it.

For all the art I've made, you'd think I'd be good; I drew a lot as a kid.
But without a teacher or book to reference, I just sorta figured it out- If you can get focused with a book or teacher, you'll make more rapid progress than self-taught-

And you say that you wanna be good, but one day you'll be good and say "I don't wanna draw today" like the rest of the artists-

Who knew that doing lines with something on something can be tiring and life doesn't help, grats on being more fit and stopping playing wow (but I am biased that MMORPG is a genre that I dont like at all).
Draw when you want and you are in the mood, keep up the good work.

I would keep playing WoW, but the soul seems to have left it since ~2017-2018 after all the Activision jerks moved in after pushing the Blizzard talent/leads out. I stopped doing that "play 4-5 hours a day" thing for many years before, but maybe this is just me explaining that my addiction isn't so bad and "I can stop anytime I want to"~

It's that interest that makes those work in progresses happen, and at least some reach the end, so it's worth it.
At least that's the way I look at it... I have a lot of ideas, bit at least some of them got out.
The Eve and Friends comics are a demonstration of every idea I had for awhile I tried to draw, so the quality goes up and down because of it- some restraint and slowing down would have helped-

Maybe so. Even the ideas I have finished tend to live rent-free in the back of my head for a while yet, so there might just be no getting rid of them entirely.
