"Thanks, Scotty. You really know how to say the most hurtful things."
"What are you-? Wait! Iry! I'm-"
Irelynd hung up the phone and silenced it. She was furious. Why didn't her sister just shut the fuck up? Irelynd already congratulated her on the baby but Scotia just wouldn't shut up about it. How excited she was. All the work she and Danny are doing to get ready. How happy she was. She just kept going on and on about it without thinking about how it was hurting Irelynd.
That's when Irelynd found herself back in that hospital room again. Learning about the cancer, how it destroyed her uterus, the anger, the struggle against the nurses holding her to the bed, her yelling at the doctor to give her back her baby, and Giorgio leaving her when she needed him.
Irelynd threw herself on her bed, in tears. She heard her phone vibrating but she ignored it. She curled up into a ball, hugging a pillow tight. She stayed like that for what seemed like forever.
"It's not her fault."
With that thought, Irelynd relaxed and reached for her phone.
