Of course they're real. :D They're from chapter 1 of my doctoral thesis and define how to calculate the depth in space of a visible point (x, y, z) using a pair of stereo cameras C1 and C2, both with a focal length f and a baseline separation b, h1 and h2 being the projection of the point within the cameras.
