Do student's typically sign over the photographs in yearbooks... in my experience no. Did I take some logical liberties to make my own silly joke work. Absolutely XP
I dunno if it's typical, but it happens. I had a few classmates who signed over pictures in yearbooks, though this was both high school and quite some time ago now, too, so things might have been different. Regardless, it's a cute touch and I like the slightly nostalgic feel it lends to the piece. I love how her mint green dress compliments her eyes, too.

I never bought a class ring, went to prom, and only once bought a yearbook. My first ex-stepfather decided it'd make perfect barbecue fuel material. My own money basically went up in smoke. I cut contact with that part of my life, him definitely included, when I left that state. Magnificently done! Be proud of your art and yourself.
