I drew a much more primitive set of motions for this creature in 2003 and when updating it I considered that no real person actually does that with their hands when walking but I also like how eccentric it looks, and this isn't a real person anyway!

that is popularly called "isometric!" This is still a bit too eye-level styled for that but i suppose it could be tweaked to that if the situation arose. I have long wanted to see a game like Landstalker but with better controls and more interesting combat.
