Upon the waves you hear it, that unearthly beautiful sound. A tune so alien, yet so familiar, as if taking you back to your boyhood home. You can almost imagine curling up in your mother's lap as she sings you to sleep, the sweet, simple lullaby weighing your eyelids so as it croons in your ear. You shake it off. You're no boy anymore, but a man. A mate upon a merchant's schooner at that. You can't afford to be hooked by the siren's call. As you rouse others from the crew, you can't help but entertain that insidious voice in the back of your head... It wouldn't hurt to look, would it? Just a peek over the side and that's it. Little did you know. Little did you know.
