Ok, so I wasn't going to let something like that by---it was very generous as that pencil would have easily sold, given the desirability of its ferrule.
So, I DM'd the seller to thank them and ask who their favorite cartoon character was, so that I may use the pencil to draw them. The seller replied that they liked Toxic Crusader, and their kid likes Venom.
...all righty. :3
Well, I did my darndest---animals are my specialty, but I 'can' draw humans/heroes, so long as I've a reference (which I freely admit I had to use here).
Toxie came out looking better than Venom. Toxie is closer to human than Venom is---that jaw of Venom's was hard to draw, but ...it came out no worse than the rest of my art (and no one watching me has, or should have, high expectations). ^^
I know absolutely nothing about the 'Toxic Crusaders' series, and Venom ...I knew about, but only casually---I grew up with 'Batman: the Animated Series' and a little bit of 'X-Men'. Beyond that, I didn't pay much attention to Western super heroes (inc. Spider-Man ...I haven't even seen the live-action movies). ^^
Anyway...
Is the Camel any good?
Well, it makes a very hard, light line---it's only slightly darker than that of my #3 Wallace Zephyr. That said, it erases easily (thank God!), and has a good drag for its grade. It's a school-quality pencil. It's selling point is (again) its oversized ferrule and the potential nostalgia for its distributor: Campbell Holton & Co (an old grocery-store chain). As for the maker of the Camel, it was probably made by Staedtler, as other 'Camel' pencils were made by them (albeit, not that I've seen with this type of ferrule).
