I can sort of relate, since I'm a third generation union electrician (and fourth gen electrician; we've been in the trade since there was a trade :P). I rebelled against the idea of going into it for a few years, since my dad had to travel for work when I was a kid. However, once I was accepted, I found it was what I wanted to be.
