naw, of all the Tainted Characters, there are only two I dislike playing: ???-B and Lost-B. Tainted Jacob is just about weaponizing Esau since his charge is your strongest attack.

the issue with ???-B is that you can never guarantee bombs because of the poop mechanic. also his base stats across the board are worse than Isaac's, so you're stuck with a slow, weak character unless you get a really early break.

I mean, that's true of any character, sure, but it's still obnoxious to need very specific items to feel like you're getting anywhere with a character. I guess it could be worse. could be Lost-B and it's completely arbitrary Defensive Item blacklist, which means there's no means to circumvent the lack of Mantle outside of Blank Card+Holy Card.

Entirely agreed regarding Tainted Jacob. Sure, it's about weaponising Dark Esau, but that doesn't change the fact that he dies WAY too quickly once Jacob becomes too powerful to avoid doing damage to him. The run unavoidably becomes "Tainted Lost without the better item pool" after a certain point.
I don't like Tainted Lazarus either, but they're probably the only two I really don't enjoy.

Thank you! and yeah its not just avoiding him and using him as dmg but the fact he can die and then cause you to die.
idk if you know about the exploit but i have been using it to get his completion marks before they patch it if you pause right as tainted esau does his death animation, leave and then press continue, he stays gone for the rest of that floor, it's a life saver for me LOL

Oh, yeah I'd heard of the exploit... the big problem with that is I'm weirdly a glutton for punishment and I don't allow myself to use it. I even bombed the donation machine from 999 to 0 because I didn't like having the option of there being extra coins between runs ^^;
That being said, if I hadn't have known about it and were so inclined I'd have DEFINITELY been grateful to know, so you get a big fat thank-you regardless~ ^w^ <3

Have u tried the exploit? if u exit right as he does his death animation and go back in you don't turn into a ghost and he isnt there for the rest of the current floor, you have to kill him every floor mind you. idk how long this will remain before its patched tho so if ur struggling to play him like myself then i suggest giving that a go!

Honestly I'm just put off from both versions of Jacob and Esau. The only reason I was able to even unlock Tainted Jacob was by playing as Bethany in the player 2 slot and keeping J&E dead

i did a similar thing with normal jacob and esau before the previous patch you was able to kill one of them by re-assigning the controller and only play as one of them. kinda like co-op luckly i have done all of their marks on their normal ones now. so i don't have to touch them lol. it's just mega satan and greedier left for me on tainted jacob.
