Hello everyone! I would like to welcome you to a very special raffle to show and raise support for bees! As some of you may know, May 20th is known as World Bee Day. Why May 20th you ask? Well, it is the prime time between seasons in both the northern and southern hemispheres for bee cultivation in different ways! Plus, it is the birth date of Anton Jansa, a Slovenian beekeeper who pioneered modern beekeeping. Cool huh!?
As many people are aware, our fuzzy friends are suffering a lot right now and struggling to thrive. Viruses, parasites, pesticides, pests, urbanization, and pollination all play a role in the decline of bee populations globally. What does that mean for you? Well for starters food! Bees are responsible for pollinating approximately one third of all food globally! That essentially means a bee is responsible for one in every three bites of any produce you eat. You're welcome!
They're also responsible for that amazingly sought after liquid gold that people enjoy so much; that's right, Honey! Honey and other bee products play a major role in the sustainability of agriculture and income globally. Bee pollination is responsible for up to $500 billion in agriculture! Woah! This means a lot to the farmers that help put food on your table people!
Now you may be asking "What can I do to help aid in this crisis then!?". Well there are plenty of ways to help out! Planting a bee garden, going chemical free in pesticide usage, providing trees for bees, and bee baths are just a few ways you can help our fuzzy friends thrive! After all in the end, helping bees is helping yourself! Plus they are indicative of a healthy ecosystem, acting as a warning sign to the health of our environments. So go out there and do what you can to help! We are even offering this raffle today, so you have the chance to take one of these amazing creatures home with you!
