Out of all her friends (Amy, Sally and Blaze) she was the first to get pregnant, not by choice. She and Knuckles had a one night stand and later gave birth to their daughter, Julie. They stayed together for their daughter but Knuckles had intentions of making their girl the next guardian. Rogue not wanting her to have a life like her father's left him and took Julie to raise her on her own. She and Julie butted heads a lot over the years but that just means they're more alike than they know.
Rouge was the best mother she could be but still retained her youth and worked off the baby fat to be the "bad mom" archetype, proving to everyone that she's still got it.
