I had the brilliant idea of drawing a character that's actually on my draw list, as opposed to drawing one I've only just been acquainted with. :p
I this case, the longstanding subject is TC, from Hanna-Barbera's 'Top Cat'. By the look of things, it appears we arrived just in time, as TC seems ready to jet (he's probably in trouble with someone). ^^
TC's not an obscure character, albeit his original series may be (somewhat), but the 2010's saw two TC *movies that've kept the character (and his gang) in the public memory.
*Top Cat: the Movie (2012) Top Cat Begins (2016) ...I've not seen either of these and I don't want to
I've also stumbled on a fair amount to TC fan art, esp. via DA. The character is easy to draw and is aesthetically pleasing (a good combination).
I drew TC here with my Zephyr pencil and delineated him via this 'Fifth Ave' pencil by Empire.
The Fifth Ave pencil is fairly hard (it's a #4), yet produces a dark line (for the grade). The drag is a bit rough, but the line is quite clean (very little 'white' or 'dotting'). It's a good pencil, alas the paint on mine is fading. :( The Fifth Ave has a wide, metal topper. I hesitate to call it a ferrule as it held no eraser---it's just a heavy cube which, I think, is intended to represent a cane or walking stick knob or handle (...like a rich gentleman might use to walk along the real Fifth Ave in NY). :3
EDIT: I got the crazy idea to clean the topper with some Brasso---it looks great! https://sta.sh/0hkhhufijyn
Looks great! Very much as per my memories from watching the toons on TV in the 70s, and in on the comic book store shelves in the 80s. You should scan it and color the scan, I'm sure you can do it justice.

This pic reminds me of my own half-assed attempts at drawing long forgotten cartoons. This is better than anything I ever cobbled together though and I used to love Top Cat.
