no trained professional, health, law enforcement or otherwise would approach someone who recoils into a corner in fear like that, I think our girl is a little stupid

I would not so much say stupid but more lack of training in that particular aspect. Something most of any police force seems to lack training on. I love the t shirt design to allow his quills out nicely done.

Nah, gotta agree with the first guy. Saying "please don't come closer" and "I'm not touching you" are absolutely glowing red flags.

Yeah someone basically trying to get as far away from you as possible is not an invitation to come closer, it means to back away and see if you can figure out why. especially in this situation. And it might be just me but in panel 3 she looks angry which might be seen as threatening and you don't approach someone who feels and is cornered.

I think the trouble lies with their approach. The original arc for Misbegotten Kittens shows that they're more interested in police that like to hurt people than to help people. It's a weird sort of dystopian utopia, where things are great but they'll joyfully cut off your limbs if you step out of line. But its "okay", because they'll sew new ones on afterwards, assuming you don't bleed out first.
