Let's be honest, a Reaper is far from the strangest friend they have. Alicorns, purified monsters, a parisitic tail with sickle arms, Discord, the changelings. The personification of Rarity's Death? There will be a welcoming party, a housewarming, a housewarming party, a birthday (deathday?) party, and that's just for starters.

Long long time ago, when the Muppet Show was on TV, one of the last shows they had a skit of "The Man Who Caught Death."

The skit was about a man (a muppet) who was about to die but managed to trick Death and caught Death in a burlap bag so that he can live again. As long as Death remained in the bag, no one died. But they knew that to live on past their time meant a painful life. They also knew that the man carried Death in his bag. As my faulty memory allows me to remember, in the end Death was freed and everybody was happy that they were dying again. Thing is in being caught and trapped, Death was released from its duties and the man who captured Death became Death himself.
