I was suppose to have gotten this done weeks ago, but the job has been keeping me pretty exausted x^x; Still I have an oppurtunity to finally finish it, so I did.
Ever sense she was a small bun, Morissa always had a fascination with various toxic creatures and plants. Her particular favorite are Night Scorpions, creatures who's tendency to sneak into houses and crawl into beds at night for warmth which often result in pretty deadly consequences. Course that name is more of a family friendly version of their other names, such as "Incubi Scorpions" or "Succubi Scorpions" simply because of this strange behavior. These creatures are also feisty and don't hesitate to sting when the hapless sleeper happens to roll on top of em' These deadly creatures even played a small part in offing one her potential rivals as she rose to the top as a crime lord. In fact the stings are common enough that at some point it can happen to those who have homes on the outskirts of the strip.
Here she feeds one of her beloved pets a glow bug. A delicacy as these things are quite hard to catch for these particular scorpions. Feeding these particular insects do more than give the scorpion a delicious meal, there's always something interesting about watching the light of the glow bug fade, as the scorpion eats away they prey's body. An odd joy to observer while the last vestiges of it's struggle weaken with every twitch until the light goes dark. When the time comes to milk these exoskeletal exterminators she often wears gloves thick enough that the sting cannot penetrate. For her signature knife, the Night scorpions venom only makes up one component of her beloved knife.
Morissa's family name was indeed taken from that of a deadly thing, but Morissa's the only one who, in her own way takes it literally, all due to a childhood fascination. Heck if it wasn't for her mom focusing so strongly in taking over as a mob boss at some point. She'd be quite the twisted biologist wouldn't you say?
