This was a sort of reaction by me to a moment featured in Aurora's story "AppearanceS Pt.1" that explores a bit of the childhood history between Steve-O and Anika, who would later grow up to be the famous heroine SuperLoba. You can read it here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/40336453/ It was revealed that Anika and Steve-O were the best of friends in school, and would often talk and play together after classes were over, with Anika developing a fondness for him. Little did either of them know that playtime for them would take a tragic turn one day. For a brief second, in a game of "Predator and Prey" Anika had lost control of her still developing super powers, and in her effort to tackle and grab him, accidentally crushed the poor hedgehog, breaking several bones and rendering him unconscious. Thankfully little Steve-O made a full recovery, but his memory of the incident was completely repressed. His family said that he had been hit by a passing car. A lie yes, but the truth could never be told that a young wolf girl from another world had accidentally crushed him. The two of them never saw each other again, as Anika was forbidden by both families to see him, which broke her heart. She never even got a chance to apologize to him. However, years later, the two of them would end up meeting again, both having a career at the daily planet, both as reporters and writers. Anika had changed her outward appearance, now wearing a long brown wig over her golden hair and a thick pair of glasses. A thick pair of sweatpants and a thick sweater to hide her chiseled and buff physique. To complete the transformation, she changed her entire persona, acting as a geeky, shy and clumsy girl, often tripping over things and bumping into other people. With this disguise, no one would ever suspect that underneath, the most powerful super heroine of all was among them. Steve-O had no real feelings for Anika outside of friendly conversation with her as a coworker, both often working together on stories that they often reported on together. If things ever got out of hand during a report on a dangerous event, Anika would often disappear. Thinking she had chickened out and ran, Steve-O often was put in harms way. But right in the nick of time, SuperLoba would appear to save him. Countless times had they crossed paths and helped each other. In time, they had grown very fond of each other. One could see they had fallen in love for the other. Anika had loved him since their school days, but Steve-O had no interest in Anika, only SuperLoba. Anika was grief struck at this realization, and the fact that she had hurt him in the past ate away at her conscious. She knew that someday, she would have to tell him who she really was, and tell the truth about what had really happened to him that day... When it did, Anika brought Steve-O to a well secluded area, somewhere they could be away from prying eyes and listening ears. Anika nervously fidgeted and played with her brown hair, twirling it with her finger. A nervous habbit of hers. She told him there was something very important she had to tell him, something she had kept from him for a long time. Steve-O sighed, thinking this was Anika trying to tell him that she had a crush on him. Steve-O, not suspecting anything, was preparing mentally to gently put her down, tell her that he thought she was a nice girl, but he really didn't feel for her the same way. Instead, Anika stopped fidgeting, stood up straight and took her glasses off. Steve-O stood there confused, wondering what she was up to. Then, she removed her brown wig, showing off her blonde hair. She looked at him right in the eyes, tears starting to form in hers. Steve-O stood there dumbfounded, his mouth hanging open. Her face, her hair... It was no mistaking it, he was looking right at his biggest crush, the savior of the city, the most powerful woman in the world. It was SuperLoba. He couldn't believe it. SuperLoba then told him of their past, the past that he didn't remember. They were childhood friends, and she was the one that accidentally hurt him all those years ago. What his parents told him about what happened was a lie. In that moment of innocently playing together, she had lost control of her strength. As she told him this, tears ran down her face, and she sobbed uncontrollably, falling to her knees. The most powerful heroine on earth, brought down by a broken heart. Steve-O on the other hand, was starting to remember. He remembered being with her in school, sharing close, personal moments with her, even defending her from bullies in school, despite often getting hurt. She could never fight back against them, knowing what she could do. With this revelation, he finally understood why. He looked down at Anika as she couldn't stop apologizing for what happened, for keeping this secret from him. Without hesitation, Steve-O went down on his knees and hugged her tight, his own tears now flowing. He comforted her, telling her it was OK. She didn't mean any of it. He had already forgiven her. Anika felt as if the weight of the world had lifted off of her shoulders. All the years of pain, the torment, the guilt for what happened. It all melted away that moment. She wrapped her strong arms around her love and hugged him tight. Her mouth quickly changing to a smile, as her tears were now not of sadness, but of joy and relief. The two stayed like this for what felt like hours, their hearts beating in unison as they mended and swelled with love for each other.
