Maya has always been a bit of a free thinker. Growing up, she never adhered to her tribe's beliefs that dragons are their superiors and must be worshipped. This eventually got her banished from her tribe, and left her all alone in an unfamiliar, uncaring world. But she never let that stop her, she continued to try to prove to everyone that Kobolds were by no means an inferior race, and ultimately that lead her down the path of bounty hunting. She eventually became quite good at her craft, to the point that people knew her name, and the wise ones didn't dare speak ill of her, lest she pummeled their face in (though not always successfully). The stigma of her banishment has always stuck with her, leaving her hating dragons (or rather, dragon's who think they're superior, which seem to be most of them in her experience) to an unreasonable degree. As such, she will gladly take on any bounties involving them, just so she can properly "put them in their place".
