Panel 1: His normal, goth self. Panel 2: Hearing his parents say they're going to go visit his Aunt and Uncles, which means he gets to see his cousin Raven, whom he idolizes. Panel 3: "Really!?" Panel 4: He catches himself letting his excitement get to him, which caused him to drop the goth act. Panel 5: "Humph." An embarrassed and frustrated Sebastian, as his parents have a little giggle at his rare moment of pure joy.
I know it's not too realistic to have a kid Seb's age (7) be interested in acting goth for an extended period of time, even if it is an attempt to imitate someone he idolizes, but this is fantasy, darn it. I say he's committed to the act, even if it's not his true self. He desperately wants to be goth, to be as cool as his cousin Raven, but he's just not cut out for it.
Of course, Raven isn't at all aloof like Sebastian tries to act. She gets excited and happy and joyful, she just loves black and other goth tropes. I draw a distinction between goth and emo, and I think a lot of others do, too. Sebastian, on the other hand, did his own research on goth behavior on the internet, so he's got a bit of a misunderstanding going on.
Anyway, many thanks to Aogami for the art. It's so cute! Especially the middle panel. I love it. :3
