I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt untill we see the whole movie. Yeah it doesn't look promising but maybe they do something fun with her instead of being "default corporate strong woman #2245".

Why does everyone like the stalker, borderline insane Lola with the intelligence of a chunk of clay? Space Jam Lola may have been a bit sexualized but she was STRONG. INDEPENDENT. SMART.

Cause she wasn't any of those things, she had like 4 lines... none of which defined any of her character in that way... "Stalker" Lola had a defined character and fit in with the group... Movie lola... 4 lines of dialog.. love her but 4 lines of dialog.

Personally I like her cuz she is fun, has a well defined personality, her voice is great and her design is neat, maybe not 100% dick friendly like her OG design but for me is a good trade. Old lola lacks character. Her whole thing was "don't call me doll" then immediately breaks that in the same movie. Be honest she just was a really good design, but as a whole she was super bland. I'm not saying old Lola is bad, far from it, her design still got ppl talking to this day, but as a full character, tls lola had a lot more development and and she might be dumb but was competent, basically did whatever she wanted and she didn't felt forced into the show unlike OG lola that was 100% a corporate decision, hell you can remove lola from the movie and nothing much would change, she barely did or said anything (but I guessyou can say that of a lot of characters in that movie, taking out the nostalgia googles, that movie wasn't very good 😄).
This this how I end my TED talk, thanks for coming.

NLTS Lola could TOTALLY have worked. She's adorkable and quirky as hell...but a savant. Her style is all double-arm overhead throws, dunks, and between the legs granny shots, but with oddly pinpoint accuracy. While moving with the ball, she runs exactly like Phoebe on Friends , and the erratic, awkward gait makes it nearly impossible for other players to steal the ball.
Bugs: Hey, uh, Mr. Bunny...your daughter never told me she was so GOOD at Basketball. But in her own way.
Walter: True, she looks like a mess out there, but nobody all through high school could keep up with her.
Bugs: Why didn't she go pro?
Walter: Funny story about that. You see, she thought she invented Basketball. Called it "Hoop Ball". I didn't have the heart to tell her. When she found out "her" game was already a..."thing", she just sort of...stopped.
Bugs: ...but...the basketball courts she played on in school...
Walter: She thought they were there for some OTHER game. She never went to after school games, and the coaches all just humored her and called it "Hoop ball" during her gym class because she was head and shoulders above the other students.
Bugs: ...hunh.
*offscreen* (sound of ball going through net)
Lola: HOOPbaaaaall!!!!
Bug: And that-
Walter: Yes. EVERY time she scores.

But you can't have goofy female characters in today corporate media, you risk alienating a fraction of the consumers base and lose precious sales, and they don't need big sales, they want ALL the sales.
