The children had been learning about feral animals and how civilization impacted their habitats and population all week. They were told that if they all learned something about this issue, a thankful visitor would come to meet them in person.
At the end of the week, having lived up to their end of the bargain, seven lucky littles (and one daycare worker bat) got to meet a real feral otter in person! While first impressions may have been different for each individual, the fun that followed later that day as the children learned how a semi-wild animal went about its business was enjoyed by all.
Visual Description: The setting is a pinkish, grey carpeted daycare room. A classroom whiteboard is on the far wall opposite the viewer. The walls themselves are painted a baby blue. In the marker well of the whiteboard, brown and purple dry erase markers rest. The whiteboard has purple writing on it in an outline with questions. It says “ANIMAL WEEK” “1. How does your animal fit in the food web?” “2. What happens if your animal disappears?” “3. How does civilization affect your animal’s habitat?” In brown, off to the right of the writing is a cute doodle of an otter face with happy arms and expression, done in brown marker.
On the wall are two posters. There is a blue poster of an otter with its paws on its cheeks and “SAVE OUR PLANET” written in colorful text above it. To the right and slightly above that poster is another light green poster that says “RECYCLE.” There are recycle arrows in a darker green.
The adorable brown otter is approaching the group of kids, having just been released from a small canine or feline travel kennel. It has a blue harness on its neck and shoulders that a leash could be attached to. It looks curious and calm. It’s safe to assume that the otter frequently visits places where children are for educational meet and greets to help build awareness about the environment. It has brown, silky otter fur with a lighter tan muzzle.
The characters from left to right are Onyx, Feliks, Lig, Temple, Tacki, Caiden, Sirius, Mamoo, and Tato (in his hyena form).
Onyx has a cheery expression on his face, his paws on his cheeks in surprised amazement at the adorableness of the otter. He has black fur, silver hair in pigtails and adorned with a purple bow, and gold irises. He is wearing a little girl’s skirt that is a very light shade of purple. It has a darker purple waistband with purple lace on the edges of the poofy shoulders of the skirt. The dress is too short to hide his diaper. His legs are covered in the same color stockings with dark purple bows towards the top. His toes are exposed at the end of the stockings. His age is probably around 2 or 3.
Feliks is a dark blueish grey bat with dark grey headfur and a chest floof around their neck. Their ears are a healthy pink on the insides. The “whites” of his eyes are actually yellow and his irises are a sky blue. He is probably around 18 years old and is wearing a green collared shirt and khaki pants, the uniform of the daycare workers there. You can barely see the side of a gold name tag that has the first two letters of his name on it - “F and E.” The insides of Feliks’s bat wings are an aqua blue. You can clearly notice the diaper flagging and bulge under his shorts as he bends down to pull the back of Lig’s diaper for a quick check.
Lig the liger is on his knees pointing at the otter. Lig is probably 6 - 8 years old in this pic, probably closer to the latter. He too has an excited expression on his face. He is wearing a baby blue t-shirt and a diaper. His fur is a nice liger yellow. He has floofly red headfur on his head. His eyes are a nice shade of green. His muzzle is a slightly tanner color than the yellowish fur around it. He has red stripes all up his arms and tail. His tail ends in a floofly red bush. He doesn’t notice Feliks checking him. The otter is definitely too interesting!
Temple the sea dragon is on his knees beaming at the daycare’s visitor. His arms are hanging out from his sides and the hands are open with astonishment. He is wearing nothing but a white sailor shirt with blue piping. He has a dark red ascot around his neck. Temple has golden eyes and light blue skin. His tailfin is up in an excited pose.
Tacki in on his knee, looking like he is in the process of backing away from the otter. He is covering his face with his hands and his teeth are closed in fear. He has a frightened expression on his face and is sweating. He was told that the visitor would be a sea creature, so he naturally assumed his arch nemesis might have finally caught up with him. (He hasn’t registered all the otter pictures around the room all week as a hint about who the visitor would be. Clearly, an otter is a land animal because it is fuzzy and cute.) Tacki’s tail is sticking up straight and the tailfloof is unkempt from fear. Tacki is wearing a sailor shirt like Temple’s but it is a color inversion. (A dark blue shirt with white piping.) He also is wearing nothing but a diaper on his bottom. Tacki is 2 or 3 in this pic, same as his friend Temple.
Caiden is on his hands and knees. He is beckoning the otter towards him (as little kids do). He is a grey furred wolf with white highlights on his hands, foot paws and tail tip. He has green eyes. He is wearing a green yellow and red horizontal striped shirt as well as a dark blue jeans pair of shortalls. He has blue toddler shoes with velcro straps on his feet. Caiden is really hoping that the creature turns to him soon. His expression suggests he is saying “Come here! Come here!”
Sirius is on his knees as well, pointing to the otter. He is a good boy and is raising his hand to get Mamoo’s attention rather than just blurting out. The wolfhound has dark grey fur. He has very light grey fur on his hands, foot paws, and tailtip. His hair is near black and matches the near black eartips on his floppy ears. He has light green eyes. There are also purple highlights in his hair. He is wearing a pine green shirt and blue shorts. He is diaper bound as you can see the bulge under his shorts and flagging peaking above the waistband of his shorts. Sirius is around 6-8, similar to Lig.
Mamoo has a warm smile on her face. Her eyes are closed in a cheerful expression as she looks down at the children. She is wearing her standard German matron outfit. She has her customary gold bell around her neck, connected to a black band. She is a brown and white cow with a tan muzzle. She has yellow horns poking out the side of her hat. She is leaning forward, hands on her bonnet. She has reddish brown hair that matches the hair at the end of her tail.
Tato.exe has stopped working. He is an orange furred hyena boy. He is roughly the same size as Onyx, Tacki, Temple and Caiden, and shorter looking than Lig and Sirius. He has black floofy hair, black fur on his hands and feet, and a black bushy tail. The bottoms of his paws are white with a grey dot in the middle. His muzzle is a lighter grey, the same as the inside of his ears (the outside are the same color as his hair. He is wearing a red shirt and semi light blue shorts. His brown pupils are dilated and shiny, tears spurting out the sides. His hands are covering his mouth, probably stifling a loud aww or scream. He is clearly having a positive experience meeting one of his favorite creatures of all time. His feet look to be thumping with excitement.
This is one of the pics I got on stream from Tato a few weeks back from the posting of this. They were nice enough, as always, to grant me permission to finish it. I hope to get the others colored soon as well!
