So, Kuro lost his job because the business was bought by a new company and didn't need his position anymore. It had been 8 years since he was kicked out of his home and it seemed like every decision life put in front of the fox just made things incredibly difficult. He constantly struggled even up until now.. Feeling a bit defeated about his day, he decided to go to the park for a bit to recollect his thoughts.
A few hours pass and the day starts to get a bit grey, The fox noticed the snow was starting to melt, 'It's getting warmer' he thought, sighing, Kuro sat on the swing. "what am I gonna do?" he pulled out the necklace his mom gave him, "why is my life like this?" he'd ask himself over and over. It was like he was at a table playing and the dealer dealt him bad cards. Though, even though the cards are awful, he still had to push through to survive. He HAD to survive.
With that thought newly engraved in his head, The folf clutched the amulet and stuffed it back into his shirt that he got a while ago from a thrift store Ren brought him to and began to make his way back to the the shelter where when he got to the entrance his heart skipped a beat as he noticed the lights were off. "No .. no no no nonononono..." Kuro groaned. He looked around to see if he could find the time but to no avail. "Damn it!" He yelled out loud.
"Great, first I get laid off, now the shelter's closed. Just my luck.." Suddenly, The door came open and a human girl's head popped out, "Hey! you need inside? We are about to close. Hurry on in!" Kuro looked up in an instant. He saw the girl... it was Jen, the teenager who gave the fox the tuor around the shelter, urging him to get inside. Kuro got in as soon as he could.
The lights were still off though and Jen had a flashlight, "Oh hey, you're the new guy aren't you? It's curfew so we'd have to be a bit quiet." Jen told Kuro who silently nodded. He still wasn't really talkative but he followed behind Jen until they made it to the common area.. Eventually they made their way to the male cubical branch where Kuro's transitional cube was.
Jen stopped at the front of the door, "Alright, you can make your way to your bed from here. You're lucky I was on lock up duty. Any second later and you wouldn't have made it." she told the older fox,
"yeah ... thanks." was all that Kuro replied. Jen just smiled, "welp, I'll leave you too it then." She than began to walk off before turning around quick and saying, "Goodnight." Humming, Kuro entered the branch and eventually made his way around the sleeping people trying not to disturb or wake anyone. Finally, he got to his cubical where when he opened the curtain, he was surprised to find a piece of cake and a sheet of paper on the nightstand..
"happy birthday Kurogane. Ren." Kuro's mind closed off everything as he looked at the paper, he'd forgotten it was his birthday today. He now was turning 19, how does time fly ... flipping the sheet over he read, "Hope you enjoy the cake. It's Neapolitan ... Don't worry, the chocolate is safe." Smiling, Kuro happily took the cake and ate it using a plastic fork behind the plate. At least there was one bright side to today ... someone did care about him.

HEYA!!! It's my bday!!! This was a drawing I did live on Twitch early this morning. I had a wonderful birthday and I actually did have Neapolitan cupcakes so that was fun XD anyway I really hope you enjoy this piece (My goal was to make a drawing/sketch for each month of my sona to help develop his story a bit better. So I hope this works :D I am gonna go spend some time with my family some more so byeeee~~
