I agree, this story only goes to such depth but, that could be because a lot of the abuse goes unnoticed. Even though the story doesn't completely focus on this, it still is an important role for why Leto is a quite character with lack of confidence. The fact as well his Mother is neglectful and always blaming his Father, which also creates a major impact on his mental health. The issue he is using is masturbation as a coping mechanism for his anxiety creates an addiction and problem himself.
The story truly is difficult to view as it does remind me of what it was like, my only solace is the fact that my Mother was there for me and did the right thing.
