Have you ever had one of those king of horrible, terrifying nightmares that leave you waking up with a slight gasp, scream, or even breaking into a cold sweat which felt so real? I sure haven't, but that doesn't mean I never had scary nightmares before, but I still understand the feeling of how it scares us so badly, thinking it was real and then wake up, horrified by what we saw, as long as you're not a character in the "Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise.
When drawing this, I was worried about getting the design and facial expression all wrong and everything, but it thank goodness it ended up turning out fine, so maybe that was just me overthinking it again as I tend to do all the time. Anyways, if anyone has ever watched the nightmare sequences from "Lion King II: Simba's Pride, Anastasia, Inside Out," or any scene in an anime show where we feel someone's pain from what they are going through when it comes to nightmares, this is a follow up to the last image I made of Skull Duggery claiming that it's suppertime once he finally had Boothill reach a dead end inside the mine, wrapping his horrifying bony hands around his neck in a very tight grip (remember it is implied in the show that Skull Duggery scares and kills anyone who enters his haunted domain) and opens his mouth wide as the camera zooms in all the way. That is when Boothill finally wakes up hollering and breaking into a cold sweat, still night time and back in the same place he always stays at when there is no job for him or Saddlesore to do at the moment. While it may be a relief Saddlesore, Mayor Bulloney, and especially Sheriff TerrorBull do not sleep in the same room as him enough to hear or be awakened by his screams where he would get no comfort or support from any of them, it does little to change the fact that the dreadful nightmare leaves him on edge and breathing heavily as if someone or something was really trying to choke him severely, rubbing his own neck just to make sure of that.
If this were the modern time period in a movie or television show, the person who woke up from a nightmare would likely rush to the bathroom inside and vomit, depending on their mentality and traumatic experiences. For Boothill, he most likely spends no more than five or ten minutes breathing heavily from what happened, and get out of bed carefully to walk into a room and soak his face with water to rinse some of that sweat off until he feels ready to get back into bed without any more nightmares of Skull Duggery trying to eat him alive. Here is hoping that nothing in that room is possessed enough to come alive like it was in "Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors". Maybe not. I hope.
