Chapter 3: A Four Baby Dilemma
“Agreed,” replied Vanilla. “And fast.” She then thought for a second, and suddenly came to a realization. “What is it, Vanilla?” asked Knuckles, looking back at Vanilla.
“If Sonic and Tails shrunk down to baby size,” Vanilla said. “Then that could mean….”
Knuckles suddenly came to a realization as well. “You don’t think…?” he started to say. Vanilla then nodded, and the two then looked around the whole room. They checked the bed where Shadow and Amy were, and removed the blankets there. “Yup,” said Vanilla. “Just as I suspected.” There laid two more baby hedgehogs, both sleeping peacefully.
Knuckles was shocked to see that all four of them have turned into babies. “This is nuts,” he said, still shocked at what he saw. “This is insane. This is crazy!”
“Knuckles, calm down,” Ms. Vanilla said, trying to get him to be quiet. “You’ll wake them up and they’ll start crying.” This prompted Knuckles to stop, knowing that four babies crying would make a lot of noise. “Sorry, Vanilla,” he said quietly.
Meanwhile, back in the room where Vanilla and Cream slept, Cream was starting to wake up. She stretched and yawned, then she checked her pull-up. It was completely wet. She then noticed that her mother had left the room. Mom must’ve woken up early and went to make breakfast, she thought to herself. Then she got out of bed as well and headed to the bathroom. She then changed into her dress and undies and socks and put the wet pull-ups in the trash bin and exited the bathroom.
“I wonder how Sonic, Tails, Amy and Shadow are doing,” she said to herself, then she headed to the room where the four were. When she entered, she noticed Ms. Vanilla and Knuckles were there. “Hi, mommy. Hi, Mr. Knuckles,” she said, greeting them. The two then noticed her directly behind them. They were both still very surprised. Cream noticed this. “What are you two surprised at?” she asked them.
Knuckles and Vanilla didn’t say a word. Instead, they directed Cream to in front of them, then Vanilla pointed to Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Shadow, all sleeping peacefully together and having been transformed to babies. Cream gasped at this. But surprisingly, instead of being shocked, she smiled and blushed and cooed, “Awwww, so cute.” Both Vanilla and Knuckles were surprised at this.
Just then, the four babies started to wake up on their own. Sonic stretched and yawned as he did. The other three babies stretched and yawned after him.
“Seems like they’re waking up,” Vanilla said, noticing this.
“I’ll go get Miss Rouge,” Cream said as she went out the door to get Rouge.
“Thanks, Cream,” Vanilla replied as Cream left. Cream then went to her room where Rouge was sleeping. Once there, she shook Rouge a little to get her to wake up. “Miss Rouge, you awake?” Cream asked her. Rouge then turned and opened her eyes slightly to see Cream. She then stretched and yawned, then got out of bed. “I am now,” she said, heading out the door and towards the bathroom, with Cream following her. “How are the four ‘babies’ doing?”
“Funny you should ask that actually,” Cream giggled.
“Why’s that?” Rouge asked while entering the bathroom.
“I’ll let you know once you’re done in there,” stated Cream. Rouge then closed the door behind her. After about a few minutes, Rouge came back out, fully dressed, while carrying her nightgown in her arms. Then Cream led her back to where Vanilla and Knuckles were. Once there, Rouge was shocked at what she saw.
“What the heck happened here?” she asked Vanilla upon seeing that Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Shadow have all turned into actual babies.
“I don’t know,” Vanilla replied. “But we think it might have something to do with what Eggman did to them.”
“Yeah,” Knuckles added. “We need to figure this out and fast.”
Vanilla and Rouge nodded. “But first, let’s get these kids fed,” stated Vanilla.
“Right,” replied Rouge. Then they proceeded to pick up the kids. Vanilla picked up Tails, Knuckles picked up Sonic, Rouge picked up Shadow, and Cream picked up Amy. Then they carried them to the kitchen, where Vanilla suddenly realized something.
“What is it, mom?” Cream asked.
“I just realized something,” Vanilla replied. “We only have two high chairs in this house.”
“Oh no, you’re right,” Cream said, realizing this as well.
“It looks like two of us are gonna have to hold two of the kids this morning for feeding,” Vanilla stated. She then got out the two high chairs and put Tails in one of them. Knuckles then put Sonic in the other.
“I guess this means I’ll be holding Shadow and Cream will be holding Amy then,” Rouge said, a little bummed having to hold one of the babies for feeding. Cream, however, didn’t mind having to hold Amy.
“I can’t believe I’m holding Amy!” Cream said excitedly. “Mommy used to do the same thing for me, and she did too.”
“That’s because I only had one high chair at the time,” Vanilla said as she started cooking breakfast. “Back when I had to babysit both you and Tails at the same time.”
“Of course,” Cream said. “She and I are like best friends.”
“Well at least you don’t mind holding a baby in your arms,” Rouge said, still bummed.
“It’s not so bad, Rouge,” Cream said to her. “They’re all so cute!”
Soon enough, breakfast was ready. Vanilla served the plates of it to everyone.
“Thanks, Ms. Vanilla,” Knuckles said. “Taking care of four babies is a lot of work.”
Once breakfast was over, Knuckles, Rouge and Vanilla cleaned up Sonic, Tails, Shadow and Amy before clearing away the table and doing the dishes. Then, they picked up the babies and carried them to the living room. “What should we do now?” asked Rouge.
“Don’t ask me,” replied Knuckles. “How the heck should we know?”
“Well, we do need to figure out what happened to our friends and soon,” stated Ms. Vanilla. Both Rouge and Knuckles nodded at this while Cream was busy playing with Amy. Just then, Amy started wetting her diaper.
“Looks like somebody will need a diapee change soon,” Cream giggled, noticing this.
“Knuckles? Rouge? Would either of you like to volunteer?” Vanilla asked them both.
“What? No way! I’m not taking care of any babies!” Knuckles complained.
“C’mon, Knux, don’t be like that,” Vanilla said to him.
“Why me?!” said Knuckles, still complaining. “I don’t know the first thing about taking care of babies!”
“Oh chillax, Knucklehead,” said Rouge. “It’s not always that hard.” Despite the two women chatting with him, Knuckles clearly didn’t want to do it. “Rouge, would you like to change her diaper?” Vanilla asked Rouge.
“Well, seeing that the Knucklehead here won’t do it, sure,” replied Rouge. Then she set Shadow down and went over to where Cream was playing with Amy and she handed Amy over to her. This, however, caused Amy to start crying since she liked playing with Cream so much.
“Awww, don’t worry,” Rouge cooed to Amy. “You’ll be back to playing with her very soon.” Then she carried her to another room to change her diaper. After a while, she came back with Amy in a fresh diaper. “Here you go, Amy,” Rouge said as she set Amy back in front of Cream. Then the two went back to playing as they did before.
“Hope it went well for you this time, Rouge,” Vanilla said as Rouge picked Shadow back up.
“It did,” Rouge replied. “Much better than yesterday.”
“I’ll say,” agreed Knuckles. “Now let’s try to figure out what Eggman did to them and fast.”
Both Vanilla and Rouge nodded at this. Meanwhile, back at his lair, Dr. Eggman was checking his weapon that he used on his four victims. He was still unsure why it only knocked them unconscious. “Stupid thing,” he grumbled. “Why didn’t this thing annihilate them as it was supposed to?!”
Orbot and Cubot, who were standing near him, simply shrugged. “Some help you two are,” Eggman said to them sarcastically and unamused. Just then, a british-speaking, shadowy scientist platypus entered with the shattered pieces of the glowing object Eggman had shattered earlier and put them into an examination tray and put the tray into a scanner.
“I hope you can do better, Starline,” Eggman said, seeing him.
“No worries, sir,” said Dr. Starline, starting up the scanner. “Once the scanning is complete, we’ll see why your weapon didn’t do what you expected it to do.”
“I hope you’re right about that,” replied Eggman. He then continued checking his weapon while he and Starline waited for the scanning to finish. Meanwhile, back at Vanilla’s place, Vanilla was finishing changing Tails’ diaper. Once finished, Vanilla picked him up and cradled him. Then Rouge came in, with Sonic and Shadow in her arms.
“Is everything alright, Vanilla?” she asked. “Yeah. Everything’s fine,” Vanilla replied. “Say, wasn’t Knuckles supposed to look after one of them while you watched the other?”
“He was,” Rouge said. “But I think one of them went potty on Knux.”
“Oh really?” Vanilla giggled. “Which one was it?”
Rouge, with her head, motioned Vanilla’s attention to a blushing Sonic. Vanilla then went over to him and tickled him. “Did somebody go wee wee on the big red guy?” she cooed to him. The blue baby just giggled at this.
“It’s not funny!” Knuckles said, rubbing a towel on his face and waking out of the bathroom.
“Yes it was,” Rouge giggled. “It was hilarious!” Knuckles pouted at this.
“Oh, get over it, Knucklehead,” added Rouge. “Babies DO that sometimes.”
“Well they shouldn’t,” complained Knuckles. “Especially if there’s FOUR of them.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Knuckles,” Cream said, entering while giving Amy a piggy back ride. “That just means one baby for each of us to care for.”
“Besides,” Vanilla added. “I called for extra help with them.”
“Really? Thank goodness,” Knuckles said, a little relieved. “Who’d you call for help?”
Suddenly, a knocking could be heard from the front door. “That should be them,” Vanilla said as she walked over to the front door, carrying Tails with her. Waiting at the front door was the two people she had called over to her place for help - Tails’ parents.
“Rosemary and Amadeus,” Vanilla said, opening the door and greeting them. “Thanks for coming on such short notice.”
“No problem,” Rosemary said as she and Amadeus entered. “We came as soon as we heard.”
Cream, Rouge, and Knuckles all came to see them enter. Rouge was still carrying the two boy hedgehogs and Cream was still carrying Amy. Rosemary and Amadeus saw their son babyfied and in Vanilla’s arms, then they saw the three hedgehogs babyfied and in Rouge’s arms and Cream’s back. “So this is the emergency you called us about then, huh?” Amadeus asked Vanilla, who nodded to him afterwards.
“We all think Eggman might be responsible,” Knuckles said.
“We’re not sure what he did to them to get them to be like this,” Vanilla added. “But we need to figure it out ASAP.”
“Agreed,” said Rosemary and Amadeus both.
