Swimming with Clothes On
2019 was a normal year like any other, and friends like Sync, Puck, Rabid, and Buckley could go on a vacation together to the Caribbean  and swim with a bunch of stingrays.
Tourists do that, they are not the same type of stingrays that The Crocodile Hunter swam with, so they are fine, they can even feed them!
And yes, waters of the Caribbean are that crystal clear!

Rays in aquariums have their barbs trimmed so unfortunate things like what happened to Steve Irwin don't happen again. I presume they couldn't do that to wild ones, since they kind of need them for the sake of survival.

They can be quite tame if they are used to people. I did this in the ocean once near Grand Cayman. There was easily over 100 wild sting rays swarming all around us and eating bait right from our hand.

Even the one Steve Irwin was killed by was an accident as he got in the sun and the shadow startled it and the tail jab was a reflex flail.
Even the BIG ones are quite docile creatures.

The caribbean rays also have poisoned barbs.  The tourists are given safety lecture on how not to get stung.  And the rays are habituated to people, so less likely to sting.

With the death of Steve Irwin from a stingray sting had resorts in the Caribbean hand out safety lectures to prevent another death from poisoned barbs.

Not only these are de-barbed by locals who organize tours, they're usually less than 1m (3ft) in size and not able to hurt you nowhere near as those that killed Steve Irwin. What you see on this artwork is called Stingray City and it is located near Cayman Islands. I was there plenty of times and I can vouch that these stingrays are tame and gentle.

seen some when i was a kid at Monterey Bay Aquarium. best described as "sea puppies" when I first saw them, rubbing up against the side of the touch tanks liking it when they were petted (or at least I think they liked it^^) nice cute pic :-)

Cuttlefish ALSO love contact with people, will rush up to get petting, and display various patterns and symbols on themselves just to get people to give them attention. Oscar fish, a common aquarium fish, learn who you are pretty quickly, will watch you all the time, and will come to see you at the top of the tank and play with your fingers. Quite a lot of aquatic creatures enjoy our company.

I petted stingrays at an aquarium in Springfield, Missouri. They feel slimy, heh.
