"Rika is another older generation Evocanis. She, along her brother Luke are the only ones remaining of their family, after surviving both invasions to Canis Major. Back in the time before Year Zero, Rika trained as a medic alongside with Luke and other friends, and she kept this duty for most of her life. Year Zero came, and Rika was one of the few medics left that help aid the many injured Evos that fell victim to those horrible machines. This very traumatic moment changed Rika forever. As much as she (like any other Evocanis) loves her kind, seeing her hurt brothers, added to the horrible event that Year Zero was, made her step away from her medical duties some time after.
But not all was terrible. During Year Zero, and after the miraculous appearance of the Retcans, who managed to purge the killer machines from Canis Major, Among all the hurt, Rika met with a very scared and still trembling Evocanis. It was a young black and white Evo who with time revealed her name was Hasky. The Retcan medics who immediately took care of the situation, told Rika that she went through enough and just assigned her to take care of that young Evo girl.
Rika saw hope in that Evo named Hasky. Not only she carried a little pup, belonging to her now lost pack members, but she also carried life in her belly. If Canis Major was to survive once more, that little puppy and the unborn one were sign of a brighter future. Rika never left Hasky's side since then. Eventually, when Rika's brother Luke appeared within the survivors, a long with a couple of friends from their old pack, they all form one new pack, making home in some of the still standing Sectors of Canis Major.
That Sector was rebuilt by the Retcans and named H2. Rika became a Resource Manager for Sector H2 and also the main Zone Keeper for her little 112, which houses a few Evos that survived Year Zero. Among them, Hasky and her pups; Fx and Husky, who's birth was witnessed by Rika and her brother. Rika and Luke are like parents not only to Husky and Fx, but also the ones who first inhabited little Zone 112 in Sector H2."
One of my oldest characters. Rika started off as a medic in the D.E cruiser, when my story was at a very early stage (like 15-20 years ago), and now became more of a caretaker in Canis Major. her appearance never changed ever since I created her, except for the obvious art style shifts I've gone through all these years. Rika was originally a Saluki, but slowly shifted more into some sort of Golden Retriever, Irish Setter-ish mixed breed doggo. I changed that since her brother's coat color does not match any real Saluki coat types.
