So this is a pretty old image, a flat colour illustration experimentation with Photoshop. Each character was made individually and I used the same set of colours. As this was to be used for easy simplicity. I used the Shaping tool in Photoshop and the lining tool in order to warp the shapes to illustrate the characters. Multiple layers that would be merged every so often so there wouldn't be an overwhelming amount of layers crashing my laptop at the time. I would use an opacity layer and the colour black in order to present certain limbs. Such as arms behind the character or the legs behind the facing sides.
This image is of my group of Oc's posing with Segas mascots. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. This image also, instead of going the sonic heroes grouping rout. Displays what I think is the characters together with those that they might get along with.
Tails is always experimenting and researching all sorts of technical or unfamiliar stuff. Meco loves to work with nature, experimenting with mushroom/Fungle growth as that is his power. So I think that the Ingenious inventor and the timid scavenger would work well as freedom fighter buddies. This will also be a good nod to Tails becoming what sonic pushed him to be, his own self. But this in a way would also make him follow a similar role to Sonic. This role is the role model to look up to. Meco finding Tails so inspirational that it gives him the bravery to push his possibilities. Just like Sonic did when inspiring Tails to save station square from Eggman and the missile.
Now Speedy and Knuckles are hard ones, but it's something I'm still working on. Knuckles changes from being a bonehead to just being very unadapted due to his isolated duties. This is because of Segas changing ideals of their mascots. However, his strength is something that doesn't correlate with Speedy. But Speedys mindset, as of now is somewhat similar to Knuckles' unadapted one. They both are skilled, Knuckles in his use of strength and Speedy in his agility when flying. They both seem very odd when socialising, Knuckles being tricked due to being unable to read people's motives. Speedy also being somewhat the same unless it's via action. Speedy's way of thinking derives from visual-based stuff. So trying to keep Speedy in a conversation is tough as he's easily distracted. Although they both are more survivalists, they have many experiences to work with and teach. Knuckles is a wiz at traps. When in Sonic 3 and Knuckles, He would be Constantly sending Sonic off course. He would also knock the literal super out of Sonic because of his understanding of the Emeralds. Speedy, the one who knows his way around tight flying areas can send enemies through loops. Can end up knotting up his enemies if large enough and easily losing or confusing his enemies by his speed and agility. They both know how to get out of trouble, whether that's bashing down walls and floors. Or whether it's by flying through impossible spaces and openings. The difference being that one is clunky, square and strong. The other being slick, fast and nimble.
Now to our favourite 2. Bunny and Sonic. The cocky, proud adrenalin junkies that always go by their versions of right. They are both playful, throwing themselves into fights that sometimes they can't fight alone. They are the leader of their groups, yet seem to act so casually and nonchalant about it. Bunny and Sonic have a tendency to always inspire their admirers, always complimenting and cheering them on. However, they know that they are some of the best of the best. Just like Sonic when constantly being pummeled in Sonic adventure 2 by Shadow. Bunny will always get up when beaten down. Bunny's and Sonic's strength sometimes can go beyond expected. This can be when faced with mental and physical challenges.
But this is just my interpretations of their Similarities and how each character would get along with one another.
