"Hey." Kuro heard the voice as the curtain to his tent opened a bit. It was a human who looks about the age of 20 peeked his head through, "You new here?" He asked. The fox looked up at him, he was just finished unpacking his things which didn't take long because the fox had little to no possessions. He nodded at the guy. The guy entered and brought his hand out to shake, "Nice to meet you, I'm Reginald, but you can call me Ren."
Kuro looked at the hand, he wasn't used to this sort of communication with people, hesitantly, he lifts his hand and shakes Ren's hand, "I'm Kurogane." He said. Instantly, Ren recognizes him.
"Wait, Kurogane? Like, the thief?" The fur on the fox's head and neck started to poof up, "Shit, didn't think I was still known." Kuro thought to himself.
"Heheh, I mean ... I have taken things but I don't do that stuff no more.". That was a blatant lie. He stole food all the time from the local street-mart.
"Dude, no worries. You're secret is safe," Ren made a action as if to zip his lips. "Now, What are you doing here in the shelter? I thought you had a place of your own?"
"Well uh ..." Kuro tried to explain, feeling uncomfortable, "I ehh. You are wrong." He said with a smile that had 'I want this conversation to end' written all over it; Ren didn't catch that part.
"Well hey, there is a New Years party tomorrow, you should come join us. " Ren said, "Oh, and if you need help with anything just let me know. I'm the next tent over." Kuro remained silent, after a few seconds Ren felt awkward and then left Kuro alone.
"New Years party?" Kuro thought to himself, "I've never been to a party. Ehhh but I'm not too sure.. I'll have to think about it." And with that he slept on the idea. The next morning; New Years Eve, Kuro pretty much stayed in his tent. not doing much other than looking at his picture of Skye and thinking things over. It was too cold for him to go on a walk so that wasn't an option. After a while Ren came back, "Hey you just gonna stay in here?" he asked. In all honesty, Kuro forgot all about the party that was happening, "The party starts in 2 minutes. There'll be food and we'll watch the ball drop in the T.V." He tried to make it sound appealing.
"I-I don't know ... The fox thought to himself, he wasn't really a people person but for some reason he wasn't feeling too uncomfortable around Ren. Maybe because he knew who the fox was. Kuro put the picture on his nightstand and sat up in the bed. Ren sat near the entrance of the tent, "Well just some info for you, being a shut in won't get you far. Especially in this shelter, here we all build each other up." Ren stated and turned around, he had a smile on his face, "I'll see you there." And left the tent.
An hour pasts and the fox is still sitting on the bed in deep contemplation, "hmm ..." Kuro thought to himself, "He has a point." Sighing, Kuro sits at the edge of his bed, looking up in thought about his future, "I sure hope this will pay off." He says to himself as he eventually leaves the tent to join the party.

OH HI!!! So I am not sure how long I will be able to do artwork for a while because turns out I broke my finger today :D Fun times. Anywho! I really hope you all enjoy the piece I literally made this as soon as I posted yesterday's piece and finished it with my broken finger so yeah. I hope you all have a Happy New Years and stay safe. Here's to hoping for a better year >:D
