Crafted as a wedding gift for friends of my bf's and mine.
Apart from the bridal party, the most photographs taken were of these ^.^
And with the exception of the bride, these were the most complimented upon ^.^
Originally they were supposed to be a couple inches in height..buuuuuutttt I got carried away. All I was tasked with doing was a couple of dragon cake toppers, one of which was wearing a veil.
Feeling that this was not enough, I decided to take some creative liberties and added the Bouquet of amethyst quartz crystals (Hey...dragons don't need flowers..but they LOVE their crystals and gems ^.^), as well as the treasure chest, deciding it would be cute to have the Groom offering up a portion of his treasure horde to his Bride instead of just one little ring, and of course the heart shaped tail curl.
The gems in the treasure chest are shards of colored glass (realized after the fact that rhinestones might have looked even better...but I do like the rough hewn gem look of the glass.
MOST IMPORTANTLY...the Bride absolutely LOVED, ADORED and FREAKED OUT OVER these guys. The Groom also loved them, but of course was more reserved about the amount of bubbly excitement than the Bride.
Towards the end of the wedding reception, the Bride pulled me over to some friends who wanted me to make their cake toppers as well...so score ^.^
Crafted out of super sculpey around a wire mesh base - makes them hollow, and thereby lighter (and saves on clay).
